All applicants applying for a Missouri Concealed Weapon Permit must:
- Be a resident of the county
- Be 21 years of age or older (18 years of age for military)
- Be a citizen of the United States
- Has not been convicted, or pled guilty or nolo contender to any felony
- Have no weapons-related misdemeanor convictions
- Have not been convicted within the past five years of a violent misdemeanor or have not been convicted of two or more misdemeanors involving DWI or possession or abuse of a controlled substance
- Not be a fugitive
- Not be currently charged with a felony
- Not have been dishonorably discharged from the armed forces
- Not have been adjudged mentally incompetent within the past five years
- Received the required firearms training at least eight hours in length to include live fire
- Not the respondent of a valid full order of protection
Steps after you take the class:
After the class has been taken, you will need to call the Sheriff's Office at 660-727-2915 and schedule appointment. We will need a copy of your CCW certification and copy of your driver's license, then do your fingerprints to send off to the State for background check. You will need $10.00 for the fingerprints which may be in the form of exact cash, check, or money order. You will also need to bring a check or money order, made out to MSHP (Missouri State Highway Patrol) for $27.25. It will take approximately a month for the fingerprints to come back; at that point the sheriff will review and approve or deny your request. Once approved by the Sheriff, we will call you to set up a time to come back in to issue your CCW. You will need $60.00 to finish and it can be exact cash, check, or money order. Your concealed carry will be good for 5 years. At the end of your five years, call the Sheriff's Office 660-727-2915 to schedule appointment for renewal and the cost for renewal is $50.00 exact cash, check, or money order.
